I am a Research Manager at Earthwatch (Oxford), leading the research on carbon cycling in fragmented temperate forests in Wytham Woods. Our data is collected with the assistance of Earthwatch volunteers including staff from our corporate partners and teachers. Communicating our science to volunteers, training them and using the experience of hands-on research to inspire them to take action to protect the natural environment is a key part of our work.
My background is in the ecology of wood decomposing fungi, so I am especially interested in edge effects on decomposition.
I am also a Visiting Research Associate at University of Oxford's Environmental Change Institute.
